Many university students love watching movies in the cinema but don’t go as it can be very pricey. Students talk about the new Hollywood releases on campus and many say that they will watch the movie when it comes out on streaming platforms. Canyon Meadows Cinemas (CMC) fixes this problem by offering budget-friendly screenings of the spookiest of movies during the month of October.

Famous horror movie screenings at Canyon Meadows Cinemas

CMC offers a great movie watching experience for students and everyone on a budget and their venue has been a staple in the Calgary community of Canyon Meadows for 25 years. During the spooky season, they screen famous horror movies of the past, such as 1980s, The Shining and 1984s, Ghostbusters. All of these famous movies can be watched on the big screen for only $5! Whether you are wanting to watch a spooky film set in an old and prestigious hotel or a comedy about a group of ghost capturers, CMC has it all!

The movie watching experience

The front entrance of Canyon meadows theatre features a multi-coloured sign displaying the word "Cinemas", multiple glass doors for entrances and exits and movie posters displaying what movies are being featured at the cinema.

The front entrance of Canyon Meadows Cinemas has been seemingly untouched since it began business as the budget-friendly theatre 25 years ago. The nostalgic feel adds to the overall movie watching experience.

Watching a movie in a theatre is a different experience than watching a movie at home. You walk up to the theatre in all its nostalgic glory, walk into the venue smelling the salty smell of movie popcorn and take a journey down the charming lobby hall to go to your movie screening. CMC is a charming little theatre in the heart of Calgary that for over 2 decades has been allowing Calgarians of all ages to enjoy watching a movie on the big screen without burning a hole through your wallet.

What you need to know

Movie tickets can be bought on the CMC website, mobile app or at the cashier desk in the front lobby. No movie theatre experience is complete without food.
