Spooky Season Fun for MRU Students

By Gabe Pereira Oct 20, 2026 | 9:00 AM

It’s officially spooky season!

That means the return of Pumpkins After Dark to Calgary. This yearly tradition showcases some absolutely amazing pumpkin carvings that feature famous halloween characters like Wednesday Addams and Chucky to name a couple. There are also actors and performers, as well as interesting lighting displays, to go along with them. All at a super affordable price, making it ideal for MRU students looking to go out with friends or just to enjoy the sights and sounds of halloween alone.  Before heading into the pumpkin walk itself you can walk through the spooky maze and play some fun halloween themed carnival games to win prizes!

The event is being hosted at Winsport, right next to the Canada Sports Hall of Fame. It’ll be happening all October long. Aside from the main pumpkin walk it also offers some great food truck options including Hot Cocoa, Kettle corn and Cookie dough. For non sweet options there is also a truck selling fries and other hot food options.

What will it cost?

Tickets are going for just about $25 each for general admission and $47 for the VIP package which includes the spooky maze day pass. The food can cost anywhere from $2 for a coffee to $10 for a platter of (very good) fries and chicken tenders. On the way out you can also grab a pumpkin of your choice to take home and turn into your own Jack O Lantern along with other small halloween themed toys and stress balls.

You can find tickets right by searching Pumpkins After Dark and selecting Calgary as the city of choice.
