Looking for a tropical getaway this holiday season? But blew your budget on Christmas shopping? Look no further than Calgary’s infamous Devonian Gardens. You don’t need a tropical get away to an all inclusive resort, you just need to visit Calgary’s Devonian gardens. These gardens are booming with fun festive activities for all ages this year.
About the Gardens
The Calgary staple indoor garden exhibit will be hosting free drop in programs for all ages with rotating fun festive themes. The Devonian gardens have been a green sanctuary for Calgarians since its opening in 1977 and continues to do so to this day. The 37 million dollar indoor greenhouse first opened to the public in 1977 and has gotten big upgrades since its four year renovation back in 2012. The indoor green space features an installation living wall with new plants and trees both local and tropical. The space also features an indoor waterfall, playground, corporate event spaces and so much more. Where else can you find an indoor waterfall? These stunning botanical gardens are home to Calgary’s busy ‘core mall’ which features a bi-level food court and countless shops to help you get a head start on your holiday shopping. With over 20,000 plants, koi ponds, bridges, and a playground, it’s hard to miss this stunning holiday delight.
About the Festivities
This year the gardens will be enhancing the holiday cheer with their free drop in programs throughout December with three primary rotating themes. These themes include: Coexisting with City Critters, Diverse Parks of Calgary, and Devonian Plants and Fish. Each theme will include exciting crafts, games, and educational touch tables. Participants of all ages will find something to rave about, and certainly no one will be left out of the Christmas excitement. Parents must accompany children at all times however, no waiver or prior paperwork will be needed.
