The Ironwood Stage and Grill is a Calgary staple in the live music scene. Located in Inglewood, The Ironwood hosts a variety of acts and themed nights throughout each month. One of the more recurring events is the WhoKnows Variety show put on by Dan Duguay aka “Dan the One-Man Band”. The show runs typically every last Tuesday of the month from 7:30-9:30. Dan Duguay has been a variety entertainer for over 36 years and has worked with people with unique skills. With this connection to the industry, he works to display this in his shows. Being a prominent local Calgary Artist, he sees the value of showcasing local talent and aims to shine a bit of a spotlight on individuals or groups that Calgary has to offer.
What is the Who Knows Variety show
Dan Duguay’s variety show is a show focused on showcasing Canadian local talent with a variety of acts. Every show has 3 to 4 acts, ranging in talents from music/instruments, circus skills, poets, clowns, comedians, magicians, etc. Running on its fifth season the show has run annually every last Tuesday of the month, with some exceptions during the pandemic. The show is priced at $15 a ticket and is worth every dime when compared to a night out to the movies or other live concerts.
What to expect
The October 30th show had a variety of acts from Two Late 2 the Party, Debra Power, The Kinkonauts, and Caity Hooper. The next show on November 21st looks just as exciting with singer Dallas Hayes-Sparks, Singer Tisa Rahim, a clown(Ruth Ferguson), and a Drag Queen(Shane Onyou). reviews from audience members from past shows have been quite high. Dan Duguay always tries to set a great variety of acts in his shows not only trying to focus on just music. The photos recently posted on social media have been very interesting and help give intrigue in what the next show will entail.
