CMRU.ca reporter Onyinye Ekwulugo interviewing owner and founder of AM Cleaning Mariya Podeyko at Makers Trade space in inglewood where Mariya and her team store cleaning appliances and make and bottle plant based cleaning products.
“I have a cleaning company and if you’re looking for work I’m happy to take you on,” says Podeyko when it comes to helping out her fellow Ukrainians looking for work in the city.
Mariya Podeyko the owner of a local cleaning company AMCleaning has made it her duty to help her fellow Ukrainians who have received a work permit through Canada to find a job. Since the impending war started in Ukraine Podeyko has worked with local churches and Ukrainian facebook groups to help Ukrainian newcomers looking to start a new life in Calgary and create a stable source of income and develop a sense of community. The conflict in Ukraine has displaced 2.3 million people which has led to thousands fleeing to Canada for refuge and hoping to create a temporary life here in Calgary while the conflict in Ukraine persist.
