Community Kindness at The Edward

By Omar Abdel Hamid Dec 8, 2022 | 10:49 AM

Senior residents gathered for a fun Mixology session.

Kindness is what keeps our faith in humanity strong. No matter if it happens to be the smallest act or the biggest, a little really does go a long way. I got the chance to speak with Heather Collingridge, the community leasing manager at The Edward. Heather told me “The tiniest things that you can do actually will impact someone’s day and really spirals down for the rest of their life, they will not forget that one little moment” and that’s what acts of kindness are all about. The little things can go a long way with people since maybe what you thought was little, was really the nicest thing to happen to that person in a long time.

After she told me more about herself, I asked her some questions:

  • What is a recent act of kindness you have done?
  • What is an act of kindness someone here has done for you that impacted you positively?
  • What benefits do you provide for the people here that you would consider an act of kindness?
  • Does your company participate in Charity?
  • Which charities have you participated in?
  • Do you think acts of kindness are necessary and impact the community here positively?

I was pleasantly surprised to hear about everything they do for the community over there. They offer lovely services to their residents such as their car service where they drive them to wherever they need. They have also taken part in many charities including the Food Bank, Movember for men’s health awareness, and the Alzheimer’s Walk & Run. They change charities every month and plan to contribute to many more in the future as well.

Charity aside, they also recently did an ice cream social event at another senior’s community where they handed out free ice cream to everyone who showed up. She told me how important it is to do these little things “The small little gesture and the smile it brought them and the thank yous that we got back were amazing”.

Here’s my interview with Heather that answers the questions above:

Author’s Note

I love what they are doing at The Edward. I wasn’t expecting them to participate in so many charities and provide as much as they do for their community. After learning more about what they do I feel a bit better about our local community in the kindness they spread. Also, the place itself was really nice and cozy. I loved my short time spent there, everyone greeted me very kindly, and I felt safe in their environment. Last little side note, the doors are crazy, and I was intimidated by them before I walked in.
