Why AARCS Helps Animals
Pets are usually taken care of by their owners but sometimes this is not always the case. Sometimes circumstances change and you end up having to give away your pet to another family or even a shelter which is stressful for not just the owner but the animals as well. This is why AARCS is here to help take care of the animals.
AARCS or Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society is an organization dedicated to providing shelter to abandoned pets, they also provide community programs and services to help spread their message about animal homelessness and make sure these animals find a loving home.
They also have a short video showcasing their shelter, and some of the animals they take care of.
Community Involvement
AARCS provides many ways for the community to get involved with them, including:
- Fundraisers
- Lotteries
- Raffles
- Events
- Volunteer work
- Donations
The organization relies entirely on donations from the community including, food, water, blankets, and bedding. They also take donations for animals in need of critical care and surgery.

Services Provided
The organization also provides many services for people in the community; their clinic provides vet care as well as spaying and neutering initiatives. They also provide disaster relief efforts for animals in case of events such as hurricanes and snow blizzards. AARCS also allows for the adoption of animals from a selection of dogs, cats, barn cats, even critters such as rabbits, and guinea pigs.
Personal Reflection
I have to say that this project was very different from some of the other projects where I had to work at another company, this one felt more like it required coordination between the two parties more than anything. I feel way more confident reaching out to potential clients now that I have worked with AARCS. I also feel much better at keeping a schedule now that I have worked in the field with one, these will be a very good skill to have in the communications field. Kayli McClelland was very helpful when I was trying to set everything up, she was patient and open to be able to discuss details, which from my previous work had some issues with tight deadlines, and lack of communication, this was a nice change of pace. I made the video as a way to show off the facility and how it takes care of the animals. Kayli thought it turned out well, and I made sure to give them the raw footage so they could use it later. It was a fantastic opportunity to get to spend time with the shelter and be able to create a project on something that I am passionate about.
