Fresh Original Glazed doughnuts travel along the conveyor belt at Krispy Kreme's Macleod Trail Location in Calgary. The Hot Light signals when fresh doughnuts are being made. (Airlie Baker, CMRU.ca)
For students looking for something sweet, Krispy Kreme has an offer worth checking out. Since Oct. 3, customers can receive a free Original Glazed doughnut when the Hot Light is on at the Calgary location on Macleod Trail.
Whether it’s a treat between classes or a quick stop on the weekend, the offer gives you a chance to enjoy their signature treat without paying for it.
What is the Hot Light?
The Hot Light is a familiar feature of the Krispy Kreme experience. At the Macleod Trail location, customers can see the illuminated sign from outside the store. When the light is on, it signals that a fresh batch of doughnuts are being made inside.
How to get a free doughnut
Customers interested can look for the illuminated Hot Light. When entering the store or going through the drive-thru, customers can ask an employee whether the offer is available.
There are currently no set hours for the promotion, as availability depends on when the Hot Light is on. Customers can call the store ahead of the time to fund out when the Hot Light is expected to be on that day before making the trip.
A familiar treat returns
The free hot light doughnut offer has a history in Calgary. A similar offer was previously available at the former Krispy Kreme location in Sunridge Mall, which opened in 2004 and closed in 2008.
The return of the offer at the Macleod Trail location gives Calgary customers another opportunity to enjoy a free original glazed doughnut when the Hot Light is on.
