Field of Crosses
Every November from the 1st-11th you can see on the east side of Memorial Drive there are 3700 crosses planted to honour the fallen soldiers that fought for our freedom.
The Field of Crosses organization holds a ceremony everyday inside those dates, a sunrise ceremony and a sunset ceremony, as well as a remembrance day ceremony that is televised. The organization is built upon donations and volunteer work that allow the crosses to be on display for Remembrance Day. Field of Crosses has many local schools in attendance for all the events, as well as many clubs from surrounding areas being a part of the ceremonies. The organization has collaborated with schools to form a youth group called “Classroom At The Crosses” as a way for students to understand the history of Vimy Ridge and obtain knowledge of artifacts presented to them.
Brookline Public Relations

Amy Theriault is a PR Assistant at Brookline. She talked about what it was like to work with Field of Crosses:
“Working with the Field of Crosses is a true honour. It’s a meaningful partnership that allows us to support an initiative dedicated to remembrance, education and community connection. For the Brookline team, working on an account like Field of Crosses really puts our work into perspective and reminds us of the value of supporting non-profit organizations within our community.”

Personal Reflection
This project impacted me in a really positive way, I got to meet some really great people that are at the Field of Crosses as well as Brookline PR. They were so helpful and caring during the process of this project and I am really glad I got to meet people that help make such a positive impact on the community. I hope that I left a positive impact on the ones I had worked with, I wanted to be as communicative and easy to work with, as well having brought a good attitude to shooting days, meetings, etc. As well, I hope I created a media that can be used for them in the future that was simple and versatile. The things that I had learned most was how much time and energy goes into creating a community that thrives together. Amy with Brookline was at the crosses at 6 am making sure all the media coverage was set up properly. It was a very cool experience to truly understand how much hard work goes into such a great program like Field of Crosses and something that made me very aware of how much effort people put in for their community. It was a true honour to work with and meet the people that I did and hope down the road I can do so again.
