Personal Reflection

Working on this project with Adoption Options was way more personal than I expected. Being adopted myself, I’ve always been curious about the journeys of birth parents and how adoption shapes families. Seeing the birth mothers smiling and hearing their stories really hit me adoption isn’t just paperwork; it’s real people, real choices, and real emotions. It reminded me of my own experience and how lucky I feel to have been supported and loved through my adoption journey.

Making the video was such a fun challenge. I had to figure out how to tell these real, emotional stories in a way that’s engaging but still respectful. Adding interviews, visuals, and music made me think creatively about pacing and storytelling  I feel like my skills leveled up big time.

What really struck me is knowing my work can actually make a difference. This video can amplify these women’s voices, educate people about adoption, and even be used by Adoption Options on their website or socials. Seeing the impact of adoption from both sides  as someone who was adopted and as a storyteller  gave me a whole new perspective and made this project feel really meaningful.

As a licensed, nonprofit agency, Adoption Options provides ethical open adoption services to birth parents, adoptive families, and adoptees. Their work prioritizes informed decisions, child-centred practice, and long-term support.
