Faces and Places exhibition showing at Illingworth Kerr Gallery at the Alberta University of Arts, brings together Calgary’s vibrant art community through the works that connect the past and present. It is curated by Tak Pham and the exhibition is open until November 22, 2025.
The gallery is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. It is closed on Sundays, Mondays and statutory holidays.
Connecting History and Contemporary Art
Faces and Places highlights Calgary’s rich artistic communities through its history created and sustained by generations of AUArts students and faculty. From various local archives and personal stories, it showcases the creative milestones since the 1970s. The works on display emphasize the importance of connections, spaces and moments that shape Calgary’s lively cultural identity whether through the perspective of AUArts alumni, faculty or students.
Featuring Artists
The exhibition presents an impressive lineup, including Chris Can, Rosalie Favell, Bee Kingdom Collective, Rita McKeough, John Will and many more. Each artist has contributed between history and innovation, bridging the traditional techniques with contemporary practices.
