Forget all your besties, your ONECard will be your best friend during your study at MRU. It serves mainly as your student ID, but also allows access to various facilities across campus, such as the gym. But how do you get your card? What can you use it for, and how can you take care of it?
Obtaining your ONECard
If this is your first semester at Mount Royal, welcome! You will receive an email guiding you through the ONECard application, where you must provide some personal information, as well as a (nice) photo of yourself. After filling out the required forms, you’ll soon receive an email letting you know that your ONECard is ready to be picked up. Of course, the email will tell you where you need to go, but keep your eyes peeled for signs placed around campus that point you in the direction of the ONECard office. After picking your card up, you are now the proud owner of your very own MRU ONECard! Be proud, be loud, but don’t lose it!
ONE card, MANY uses
Your card serves one main purpose; school identification. Because of this, you’ll need to keep it handy for things such as final exams and renting out library books, as you’ll need to prove you’re an active student. Apart from identification, your ONECard can be used as an on-campus debit card, allowing funds to be added via terminals around campus, or the Mount Royal website. Your ONECard can also be used to access facilities around campus. Every student will be able to access the gym and other community spaces using their card, but certain degrees of study will have their own facilities that require a ONECard to access, such as Broadcasting and Journalism facilities.
Keeping your card safe
If you’re worried about losing your ONECard, you’re definitely not the first. Storing your ONECard somewhere close, such as your wallet or card holder, is an easy and safe way to keep your card handy. If your wallet feels a little full, not to worry! The Cougars Campus Store offers many options for lanyards, card holders, and customization options to make your one card more personalized. Students often apply card covers to transform their cards to further personalize them, but make sure your card still works as a piece of ID, and doesn’t permanently cover your beautiful chosen photo. With these tips in mind, you’re more than ready to take on the school year like a champion.
